Hi

When I rename a table in ACCESS, all the queries
get automatically updated with the new table name.

How can I prevent this?

Thanks

That is a good thing and a very nice feature that comes with Access. Why wouldn't you want to update the query. Do you want them to do it manually instead?

See, I would like to 'save' the table under a different
name and then import a new table. I do not want to
delete the old table, just rename it, somehting like
tablename_date or tablename_save or tablename_old.

I want all the queries to access the new table
which will have the name tablename.

That's easy. I usually import the table in first under a different name like table1. Then rename table to tableold and then rename table1 to table. I have not had any problems this way. I am not sure or have tried any different way. The only thing I don't do is open the query after renaming the table until I get the new table name the same as the old one first. Try that and see if it works for you.

Good luck,

:)WB

Hmmm

So by NOT opening the query first... it may work?

I will look into it...

Thanks!
