table records not matching form records

hi, I have a subform with a check box for users to pick individual records. The problem is that the underlying table is always 1 record behind:

User clicks record1 checkbox in form; nothing happens in table

User clicks record2 checkbox in form; table shows record1 checkbox = yes

User clicks record3 checkbox in form, table shows record1 and record2 checkbox = yes

and so on
can anyone tell me why this is happening

You haven't saved the form record so the table is unchanged until you do.

could you please tell me how to save the form!

DoCmd.save acForm, "subformname"
is giving me a form not open error
