Hi,

How to I remove the automatic links from the table of contents in a word doc. Currently, the table of contents is formatted so when you press control and place the curser on a line, the hand pops up to allow you to click to that page within the doc.

Thanks

Use Cut-and-paste, then Edit > Paste Special and paste it back without formatting. It will come out looking a bit messy, but could be formated to look like the original, just without the hyperlinks.

Nothing would update, of course. If page numbers changed the table would be wrong.

Insert > Reference > Index and Tables. On the Table of Contents tab uncheck "Use hyperlinks instead of page numbers. Using hyperlinks is the default.

You can do this with an existing ToC. It will replace the ToC without the hyperlink feature. No need to cut and paste etc. However, make SURE the newly generated ToC is the way you want it. If you have done any customizing, (for example using your own Styles for the ToC generation, which I do), you will need to redo that customization.

Although, I am not understanding why you would want to do this. It is useful.
