Table cells in layout problem

Is there a way to keep table cells from stretching length wise? My menu section will stretch depending on the content in the body section. Is there an attribute in the <TD> tag to get the cell to stay at a specified size? I've tried both % and pixel values and nothing &quot;keeps&quot;. Thanks! Chandler
