I have a T1 line coming into a switch. The line is to reach a secure site only. My win2k server has 2 nic cards but only one that I am using for my network. I use the 192.168.0.xx for my dhcp and I use the server's address as the dns. Which is 192.168.0.1. So if the ip address to the T1 line is 172.17.42.65 how would I configure that in the server so Workstations could reach that secure site? I have both xp and 98's on the network. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

Think you are better off with hardware doing you NAT...
Obtain a NAT router, such as a Sonicwall or Linksys. The setup is very easy in both cases. You fill in the static address of the T1 and the 192.168.0.0 address range and the default gateway address which you can pick from one of the IP addresses in the 192.168.0.0- .254 range. If you have DHCP make sure the server and at least the routers address are reserved, general I reserve the first 10-20 IP address for internal use. In the DHCP mmc, there is an option for entering the default gateway address. At this point you do not need two NIC, you can disable the NIc not used for the network.

What are you using for a default gateway? You can set a route up in your default gateway for the secure network and all of your clients will be able to route to it. You have a T1 line going into a switch? Is this a modular switch, like a Cisco 6000 series that can act as a router?

I am not familiar with D-Link, so I will speak in general terms. What you would need to do is configure the router so that it knows that the 172.17.x.x is reached through the T1 line. This is normally done using routing protocols on the routers. The config for these protocols is protocol dependent, but provided that you use the same protocol on both routers and make them part of the same routing group, you should be OK. You will need routing in both directions.

I got it to work dk87. I just put the 172.12.x.x address for the WAN and used the 192.168.0.100 (router) for the default gateway and it worked. I connected the T1 which was a crossover cable into the WAN port of the DLink router. Thanks for the ideas and help.
