my norton systemworks is due for renewal. i am not sure whether to get systemworks or just an av, since my machine starts so slow and maybe it's the sw causing some of the problem.
anyway, i have always wondered about pucrhasing software without the cd. if i switch machines in a couple months, which is a good possibility. since i have the cd that will be expiring, if for example, i would change machines 6 months from now, would i be able to transfer my subscription?

Hi!
My personal opinion is that you should lose the system works. Most of the things system works does, your operating system can do, too. I use the online version of McAfee AntiVirus. If I get a new PC or just redo an old machine. I just login to McAfee, go to my account, and download and reinstall my antivirus program. No hassles at all. I do have a high speed internet connection though, so...the download only takes a few minutes. On a dialup that may vary, but is usually around 30 - 40 minutes. I have no preference between McAfee or Norton Antivirus programs. They both catch the viruses...so IMHO either is fine. I stay with the plain old virus protection because I believe there are less software problems that way.

i am curious about something. when i go to norton to renew, it give me 2 options. one is upgrade to system works. the other is update my virus protection.

i have systemworks on my machine. not to be dumb, but if i just update the av will the other functions continue to operate?
