I recently bought 2 Definity switches to replace System 75 R1-V3's so I wont have to worry about tapes. When I log in
1 switch says it is a G3 V1, the other says it is a G3V4.
Both have 786B Processors,(V5).Memory expansion CPP1(V5)
777B Network Control{V20) . What makes 1 a G3V1 and the other a G3V4. I have not installed the Memory cards yet,
however they are 4 megb L10.

Any and all help appreciated.

I would most likely say the difference between releases is softwae and hardware features. I definitely know there is software differences between switches. For example i know you must have at least a 9.2 for telephone IP. And as for hardware i am sure certain cards must have at least or no more than a certain releases.

You can type in "newterm". That will give you the exact load of software that each one has.

I suspect the answer you are after is
It the version of the generic software which as been load on the on board flash on the processor pack.
The list con soft command will show what generic software is loaded on the processor and it's what's on the plugin translation flash card that determines what RTUs have been authorized. If the plugin translation has no translations on it it will default back to G3V1
