Hello,

I have a user running windows xp pro on his laptop. About once a month at about 4pm the users clock will change to 11am. What could be causing this? I have scanned the system for viruses and spyware and found nothing.

What else should I look for?

Thanks,
Kurt

my guess possible bad motherboard battery or laptop battery. wait for more answers as someone else might have another say about it.

Hello,

We have windows server 2003. A logon script syncs the time with the server when the user logs on. So for sure the time is right in the morning.

This problem used to be more frequent. I found out that windows time service wasn't running on the server. I enabled that and added some external time servers. I thought that fixed the problem but still about once a month the users time changes.

I thought maybe a hardware problem but I think the time was correct in the bios.

If you are using a domain the PDC(FSMO role holder) will be a time server and if the time zone is set wrong the time will adjust to the server time -/+ the offset. I had this issue with an image that had PST time zone set and we are in Massachusetts, so the clock would reset to 3 hours behind the DC.

Hope this helps,
Scott
