I have recently built my computer from scratch. I had Windows ME on then I had to perform a clean install. I formatted the hard drive & reinstalled ME. The problem is that Hibernation is not showing in power properties & my system will not go on standby. It used to before. I looked up help then used "nohiber.txt to see what the problem was. This is what I got "Hibernation disabled because hibernate is not supported by the audio driver- serwave.vxd."

When using pmres.exe it said "Your computer was not able to use standby mode. Your BIOS may not support this feature or may not be configured properly"

I then looked at susfail.txt & it said " Your computer could not Suspend or Hibernate, because a device vetoed the Suspend or Hibernate request. "

My motherboard is fully ACPI compliant.

Also when I start up a few programs like media player, my coonect to internet dialog box appers. How do I turn this off?

Could anyone help me. I would be so grateful

Thank You

It seems to me that I remember reading something about a standby problem when there was too much ram installed. Maybe do a search of the MS knowledge database for more info. I think that is where I read it.
Good Luck,

The message pretty much says it all "...a device vetoed the Suspend or Hibernate request". This means that a device or its driver is preventing standby mode.

The most common items I've seen which cause this is USB devices or network cards. Disconnect all of these to see if the problem remains. If it does not, add then one at a time until the culprit is identified. Then look for updated driver for the problem device.
