Hi there !
I am buying a VB6 application with Oracle 9i as back end.

we need the following things on a PC for a CLIENT: -
1)Oracle9i Client.
2) Crystal Reports.
3) Windows 2000 (Oracle 9i supports only win 2000 or xp)
4) VB IDE (Optional)

All my PCs are Celeron 500 MHz and with 128 MB RAM.
My vendor suggests me to upgrade all my PCs to P4's which is a very expensive thing for me to do.

Do I really need P4's?

I think that I dont' need them. There is no such big thing thats going in there.

What do you suggest??
I will be very thankful for your reply.

Thanks in Advance.

Not knowing the app it is hard to say 100% but as they are only client pc's then I would imagine that a P3 would be more than ok. Certainly I have been able to work on P3's as a database server with no problems.

I guess it really depends upon the VB app and how well that runs, the oracle client should certainly pose no problem.

Add more memory for better performance, especially if you plan to run multiple applications simultaneously. CPU is quite sufficiet, though in general I agree with jaggiebunnet.
