Hi;
My son's computer is running Win 98, and when online (with IE) it has the frustrating habit of causing the system to shutdown and reboot. It would appear to occur when visiting sites with lots of information and graphics. It happens with no warning; it simply shuts down and then starts rebooting.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Pat

I have known similar things to happen when a video card has worked loose. I would suggest that you open up the computer, disconnect and remove the video card, then replace it securely, reconnect and boot up. It is only a stab in the dark but well worth a go............Dave

Actually, I think Dave is on the right track, I recently had a pc that froze at the point graphics would popup in IE, and the system rebooted. I actually had to replace the video card though.

Thanks Folks; Never even thought of that. Just thinking that his computer has onboard video, so will that make a difference?

Pat

Just throw in another video card (if you have one handy). You can disable the onboard video in the cmos setup.

Check your CPU temperature... might even want to crack open the case and verify the fans (CPU and power supply) are working.

that's my $0.02.
