System Lockup

Had three electric Power surges which shut down the computer, when the electric was restored the following blue screen message was received:

Stop: OX0000008E (0XC 000 0005, 0XF756BCOB, OXF7170800,OX000000)

Setupdd.sys - Address F756BCOB base at F7542000, DATE STAMP 367d8507

I then ran the diagnostics disk that came with the Western Digital HD, and I get the following message:

Drive is locked, Error Status Code 0220, sent email to WD and they said it was a Operating System software problem, finally received notification from MS that it is a HD problem.


Have tried to reinstall the OS, have tried Kill Disk, F-Disk, I have tried to unlock in DOS, However I cannot get DOS to respond, either,
it always goes back to the 1st statement Message Received... Cannot get into the hard drive /boot/ all I get is bumped back to the 1st Message. I can get into the BIOS, but nothing else.

System Info:
Gigabyte 81G Motherboard, with 845 P4 Intel Processor, 160 GB Western Digital Hd, 1024 MB 2100DDR SDRAM , Liteon DVD Player, Sanyo CDRW, Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2, with Up to date XP pro installed.

Does anyone know how to unlock the HD or System----Thank You in advance.

If your Hard Drive is warrantied, play stupid. Call your vendor and tell them your hard drive is not working. Tell them you can't access it. Most vendors don't ask too many questoins and they will exchange it for you.

On a computer that has a Creative Technology Audigy sound card installed, you may receive the following error message on a blue screen after you upgrade the computer from Microsoft Windows 2000 to Windows XP:

STOP: 0x1000008E (c0000005, f80ef98c, f02f3b94, 00000000)In EMUPIA2K.SYS
"KERNEL_MODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED_M"

Arguments:
Arg1: c0000005, The exception code that was not handled
Arg2: f80ef98c, The address that the exception occurred at
Arg3: f02f3b94, Trap Frame
Arg4: 00000000
The four parameters in the parentheses may vary, depending on the configuration of your computer.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs because the Windows 2000 device driver for the Audigy sound card is not compatible with Windows XP, and Windows XP does not include an updated device driver for the Audigy sound card.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this behavior, contact Creative Technology, Ltd. (Creative Labs) to obtain an updated audio device driver. Visit the following Creative Americas Web site:

i don't know what the last post was all about but i agree with ReddLefty if its under warranty then play dumb and send it in. In my experience when stuff goes out after a power failier its cause its realy bad. os's don't go out with the power but hardware does and quick lol. I have seen whole systems blow out with just a power blink. having a ups is a good idea.
