my computer crashes very frequently, i looked in the event viewer and the last event is an error with DCOM

"DCOM got error "The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it. " attempting to start the service EventSystem with arguments "" in order to run the server:
{1BE1F766-5536-11D1-B726-00C04FB926AF}

For more information, see Help and Support Center at
its an error number 7036 - i do not have any new programs loading at startup since it was ok, however i did get 256meg ddr ram recently

Ciaran, after doing a rather thorough search of the MS Knowledge Base, I have come up with nothing that will help in this situation. Nothing.

I am requesting more information. The more information that you post about your system, the more help that we can be of assistance to you.

1) A detailed list of your computer / system components, including any periphreal devices, including printers and scanners, etc.

2) * software * What is loaded up.

3) Is this a CLEAN install of XP, on a freshly formatted hard drive, or a upgrade ?

4) More information about the error, and some of the exact text that is in the error message(s).
Is there any pattern as to when you have the crashes ?

I will check back to see what you have added.

I have winxp pro - it is a clean install
I have an xp1600 processor,a ECS K7S5A motherboard, a G force 2 mx200 graphics card, 256 meg of NEC ddr ram, a samsung DVD ROM sd-608drive and a cyberdrive cw038d cd r/rw drive. I have a lexmark z11 printer, a 3com us robotics 56k faxmodem (external on com1)and a connexant soft 56k pci modem.

In event viewer there is also a new event at the time of the crashes in the application section.

"Event Type: Error

Have you got the automatic restart after crash selected. If you turn it off you will get the old fashioned blue screen with the appropiate full error message.

My Computer/Properties/Advanced/Start Up and Recovery/Settings.

hmm i dont seem to be able to start the alerter service even though its set to automatic. Im an admin but i have denied access to the global policy, if i enable access it will restrict my account though.
It did come up with a message a few times but i cant remember it all, i will just have 2 wait until it crashes again. I remember having 2 different error messages but sometimes it just automatically restarts.

When my computer crashed again it came up with this error message

*** STOP: 0x0000008E (0xc000001D,0xf9788781,0x8053BCF0,0x00000000)

*** ks.sys - Address F9788781 base at F9788000, Datestamp 3b7de004

when it crashed the 2nd time it said:
*** kmixer.sys Address f34BF781 base at F34B1000, Datestamp 3b7d85fd

Therer have been different error messages but i have only wrote down these 2 so far.

Here is some more information for you and some sites to do some further research in.
