I have win 98SE clean install, clean startup, printer,
scanner and camera attached and functioning correctly.
I'm running an AMD XP 2000+ on a ASUS A7N266-VM
This is a WS on a home network. The other WS are powered off. The clock on this one is running incredibly fast. Also, the cursor blink rate has increased as well as the double click speed for the mouse. I like the increased system performance, but a know something is obviously wrong. I noticed it while I was sitting here reading a post. Anyone seen this before?

If this problem started right after either the MB or new software was installed, then update the MB's chipset drivers or uninstall the software.
If things wnet awry long after things were installed, then you should be able to adjust the mouse double click speed and the cursor rate in Control Panel(Mouse and KB, respectively).
However, if you cannot adjust them as desired, the clock's speed is extraordinarily fast, and this problem just started on its own then reinstall Windows.
If no good, then suspect a faulty MB.

Hello Ski, Although I can
adjust the mouse and cursor speeds I couldn't control the clock speed. I made sure I had the latest drivers as you suggested. This problem would come on by itself and I could fix it with a reboot. The system acts like it gets kicked into overdrive when this occurs. I checked out the cpu speed and temp while it was happening. No change. I should have tried gaming. I ran file checker and it reported the
SETUPX.DLL file either damaged or corrupt, so I replaced it.
I checked out the properties for this file, but I am still
not sure what it actually impacts. If it happens again I will heed your advice and return the board. I built it about a month ago. Thanks alot for your help
