the main reason for asking is because im going to format the drive after backing it up and dont know if theres some important system files or something i might not think of.
Depends on what you do on your computer.
Comtech is technically correct. But if you only have the operating system loaded, then why bother backing anything up, since it would be loaded again? If you have data in any form, stuff you have done, then you might need to save that data and the programs that created it. If you have the original program install disks , then you can probably get by without backing them up.
