I've had this issue since upgrading my Exchange 2000 server to 2003. When I wish to shut down the server for updates, I have to manually stop Info Store and System Attendant. Otherwise the server will take 20 - 30 minutes to shut down. When the Server comes back on, I get an error 7001 that MAD.exe could not start because System Attendant was unable to start. I go into Services and start System Attendant and Info Store. Then all works fine. But I would prefer to avoid all this stopping and starting if possible. Why does this happen on a Windows 2000 Server?
