I have a user who compiles/edits technical manuals from many sources. Every once in a while, there is a problem with symbols printing out the same way they appear on screen.

This time the ? (less than or equal to) and the ? (greater than or equal to) symbols appear correct in the document and if you print a small section (less than 5 pages printed with a PostScript Driver) they print. But when you print the complete document (around 200 pages) they will not print; only a square box shows up.

I do not know how the original document that is brought into technical manual was created. I do not know if they inserted a predefined symbol or if they created their own. I have checked the font and it is regular Times Roman.

What am I missing? Is this a Word problem or could this be a video card driver that needs updating or...?

Thanks so much for the information. It was not the print driver but rather a setting in the Printer Properties. Print TrueType as graphics needed to be checked. I figured it out from your good reference.
