I have an issue but I am not sure if it is a symantec problem. We have a evironment with 40 users where the users run outlook on citrix metaframe. Last week I upgraded the exchange server from 5.5 to 2003 and with this I also upgraded the symantec mail security for microsoft exchange from 2.1 to 4.5 After this upgrade i get these small envelopes one the taskbar, but the dissepear. I think the it is the virus engine that removes it because of virus. Are there someone who have expirenced the same problems.

I see that happen from time to time. What basically happens is that SMS can't erase the spam/virus email fast enough and it gets delivered to the mail store, then it get's removed. My users sometimes even see the mail pop up and then disapper from their inboxes. Made mine better by increasing the number of threads that SMS is using, this is on the general settings page.

Be careful, Symantec reccommend # or processors + 1 for the # of threads, if you don't have a fast server running only exchange and SMS it will kill the processor. I have a dual Xeon @ 2.4Ghz with 4 GB ram and seems pretty good with 8 threads running. During a big day of netsky emails it still has a bit of a lag from time to time.

Hope that helps.
