If someone can help me, it would be greatly appreciated. I'm trying to install Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition Version 9.0 onto a Windows NT computer. I want to set it up to be managable from another computer that is running the server edition of the Symantec software. The problem is, is that when I go to install the program on the NT computer, it starts then stops and I get a message box saying that the install shield was interrupted and setup cannot continue. I have tried everything I can think of. Here is a website that gives more detail and shows the things I have done to correct this problem. Thanks for all help!!!

Is your NT server running SP6a with at least a browser of 5.0?

The server is running SP6a with browser 6.0.2800.1106

if anyone inds the actual fix, please post it here. Not the rubbish that Symantect offer. I've tried everytihng I can think. It's happening on 1, 2k server, out of a ghroup of 20 or so! so bloody annoying!!!

Did you manually uninsall the first installation?
This often helps when we have problems with clients/servers not taking the install.
Here are the instructions.
Also, have you scanned for any viruses. Often an infected client will not allow for an install.
Beagle.BA comes to mind.

I did have to manually remove the previous version yes.
I haven't tried all of the steps, but some look familiar, I'll try the others tomorrow when I get to work.
I haven't scanned for viruses either, I'll do that also.
Will let you know how I get on.

Well I've tried that and still no joy (
Running virus scan now, but the manual removal hasn't worked.
Any other ideas?

I'm getting close to running out of ideas.
Did you preform this install remotely or localy?

Terminal services is something I usually steer clear of when running an install. I ran into trouble with a Backup exec 9.0 to 9.1 upgrade. But i have had no trouble with using TS (i now use the remote desktop connection embedded in XP for my remote administration) to install SAV 9.0 and up. This is an interesting delima you have. Are you limited to using TS? Do you have physical access? How about installing from a CD and simply selecting the managed then unmanaged option if one does not work?
So many ways to try idffernt things. i understand your frustration.

Thanks, I'll have to try that. The site that has the server is around 40 miles away but at atleast I'll get mileage for going there, hahaha.
There may be PCAnywhere on there thinking about it. I'll look into that also.

Will keep you posted

Well I.ve tried installing not via term server but still no joy. I've been told that if you create a package for the installation using symantec's installer package thingy, it works. I'll try and let you all know
