I want to program several IP phones with the ability to pickup inbound phone calls ringing on an LDN key programmed on a console. I don't beleive the Directed Call Pickup feature access code will work. I do think that TAFAS will work but I'm not certain how to program it. I'm sure I need to enable it in the COS for the IP phones. There are three TAFAS options in the COS: TAFAS Any Access, TAFAS Access Tenant, and TAFAS Access During Day Service. I'm certain the one I want to enable is the TAFAS During Day Service because calls will not ring on the console when either Night mode is active correct? Does the TAFAS also need to be activated in the COS for the Console? I don't beleive it does but I'd like some reinforcement.

Once that is enabled, if someone wanted to pick up a call ringing on the LDN key of the console, which TAFAS FAC would they dial on their phone: TAFAS Any or TAFAS-Local Tenant. There is only a single tenant set up on this system.

Apologies for asking for definitons but I do not have the Folio files for the SX200 AX. I assume that is where this information can be found.

Thanks!

This system is in a hotel. It just occurred to me that if someone does use the TAFAS feature, they will not know where the call ringing on the LDN key is coming from? It could be an outside call or a call from a guest.

What type of phones?

It might be simpler to setup LDN keys directly on the phones.

53xxe's(5340e and 5330e). You can set up LDN keys on them?

Just set up the ext of the LDN as a multi-call appearance on the 53xxe IP phone?

You will probably need to delete the phone and recreate as 5330 Sub or 5340 SUB

Then you can program up to 6 LDN keys

the 5340's can even have a guest room key to set wakeups and such

You will need some different COS options but I can help with that.

That is great but I fear I may run into an issue with intrussive ringing on the LDN key. Well, let me say that I assume that by setting up sub attd's with LDN keys; if the LDN key on the console rings, won't it also ring on the other LDN keys programmed on the sub attd's? If so, that's the part that might be intrussive to the end users. If the ringing can be nullified on the sub attendants in favor of a button flashing, it should work beautifully.

The ringing can be set to delay or not at all

That'll work. I'll get to work on changing the phones to sub attendants. Thank you sir

Tafas works sort-of

As you remarked, you have no idea what you are answering
It also can fail if ringing in night mode but TAFAS during day is enabled

Just being able to set wakeup calls from a 5340 is well worth the effort of setting up Sub-Att's

Ok, 1 5340e and 3 5330e's have been changed to sub attendants.

You may want to look at adding these options to COS

kwbMitel, I've got my sub att added along with the LDN keys. I noticed that I was not able to add multi call appearances of that phones extensions so it could have additional call paths. For example, ext 100 was changed to a sub attendant device. I expanded the device and tried adding a multi call appearnace of ext 100 to one of it's keys but it won't allow it. Is there a way that I can add multi call appearances to a sub or is there a work around?

Thanks

If you require inbound multicall you can program it as an LDN

If you simply need dialtone for a second call you can have a couple of options
- Program Hold Keys to move the call off of the Prime line
- Program Person O/G (POG) keys

What is the Person O/G key function? What is the difference between the fixed Hold key on the phone and a soft Hold key that I program on the phone in this scenario?

Personal O/G Key is simply a Key that provides dialtone to make calls

Soft Hold Keys move the call to the hold position and free up the prime line of the phone for other purposes. Also, soft key hold are required if you want to place a LDN call on hold. You cannot use Red Key hold against a LDN key

Red key hold will put the call on hold on the prime line

Got it. I'm able to add a hold key to the 5340 sub att but not the 5330 sub att.

hmmmm, I know there is a difference with the '30s but I would not have thought this would be one of them.

I'm usually using '40s so I have not run across that limitation

My first thought would be to resort to System Park keys then that are addressed the same on each phone so that they can share the positions and easily hand off calls. (console excepted)

Got it. I just learned that none of the sub attds can make external calls using the Personal O/G keys. They can make internal calls just fine. Maybe I missed something in the COS?
