How do you go about testing if one of the ports on a switch has failed? I was just curious of an easy way to do this from within the IOS without having to be physically at a location.

From enable mode, "show interface xxx" where xxx is the interface in question. The interface may show up / up, or up / down, etc.

Good point. Is there a command that will show me all of the MAC addresses so I can determine the devices port by matching up its mac address to the port?
