Switch external mouse to left handed 1

I am currently using a laptop. I have an external mouse plugged in, but I would like to set it as a left handed mouse. When I go to Control Panel and Mouse the option to change the mouse from right to left handed is grayed out. I can only change the touch pad. Any help would be appreciated.

Try installing the manufacturers drivers for your mouse on that laptop and see if you have the option then.

Very good suggestion, however I was unsuccessful in getting the mouse switched.

I attempted this process again, but installed the mouseware instead of just the manufacture driver.
