Hello,

I have a quick question that I hope somebody will be able to help me with.

I am currently reading this great article,

Looking at the section that says I should remove the SMTP smarthost specified in my SMTP connector, otherwise it will stop the old server sending mail to the new one. I am unsure if I can just go from using a smarthost to choosing the option of allowing DNS to deal with it. Or do I need to create a new smtp connector and give it a lower cost?

I hope I have provided enough info. And thank you in advance for any help.

Kind Regards,
D.

Hi Pat,

Thanks for getting back, will I need to delete the connector with the smarthost in it? And if so should I create the smtp connector beforehand to avoid disruption?

Regards,
D.

Hello Pat,

I see, what your saying is, it doesnt matter if there is a smart host in the connector, as long as there isnt one in the virtual server, Im good to go?

I'm starting to feel a little dense.

D

Yes - smarthost basically says "push all email out of my domain". Not a good plan if you want to route internally.
