Just discovered that swfs can be placed in InDesign documents but when I publish to swf the document page displays a flash icon that needs clicking on to start the movie. Is there any way of getting to thing to play as the page opens? I'm looking to produce an animated book and want to make use of the page curl that InD offers.

Any advice gratefully received.

...in my experience exporting an imported swf and exporting back out to swf from indesign (on mac) does not work, so imagine it is the same for windows to a degree...

...swf in PDF formats does work to a degree, but a user is often warned and before they get to play swf inside pdf files...

...your only other real choice is to export from indesign the book to XFL format and import into flash to finally build what you need to do, this is the workflow Adobe would rather take...

Thanks appep.

Do you mean export as XML?

Any way of building the InDesign page curl in flash? If that could be done then that would simplify the process.

...no it has to be XFL format from indesign CS4 or CS5 to get your indesign artwork into flash...

...the actual page flip is a lot of flash work to achieve, the simplest solution is to use the available dynamic page flip (does cost money) found here:

Thanks again Andrew

I have CS5 but there is no export to XFL option, hence my confusion.

I'll have a look at the links you have given in some depth later but for now the page flip utility looks useful.

...from cs5, the FLA format in the export dialog is the one you need...

...from cs4, XFL format (is the same as FLA, they have just called it something else in CS5, compared to CS4)...
