The kids have been playing with the computer...When you boot up, it automatically tries to open swffcom.vxd and asks which program I would like to use to open the file. I checked the config.sys, autoexec.bat and startup and can find no reference to the file anywhere. I found a reference in the registry but I still don't know how to get Windows to stop trying to open the file. Can anyone give me a clue?
Thanks

Hello Caldee

That's it!, blame the kids.

I can't locate that particular file but it looks like and sounds like a SHOCKWAVE FLASH application file.

Two options, either get rid or reinstall. Most PC's have shockwave installed these days, so I would recommend reinstalling.

It's pointless trying to get rid, the kids love it.

Actually, if you still get a problem after downloading, search your registry and/or SYSTEM.INI file for the reference and delete it (remember to save), then reinstall.

Have a look in your startup and see if it's checked in there for some weird intro. START-RUN-type in MSCONFIG-hit ENTER-choose STARTUP. Computers make very fast, very accurate mistakes

Thanks for your reply Phil! I am going to try it out and I'll let you know how it works out. It may be a couple of days before I get to it but I will make sure to reply when I find out.

Thanks Again!!
