Hi, does anyone know of a way to switch extensions on a 4610 ip phone remotely? I could have some one at that location logoff of the old extenstion and then login with the new one, but is there a way to do that remotely? If it were a digital phone I could just x port the old extension and use that port on the new extension.

It can be done at the IP office or switch. Set a new extension and PW and just reset the phone (Mute then 73738#) and reset phone/settigs. The port does not matter it, the IP address may however depending on how the ext is configured on the IP office or switch. If your switch is configure to all new extension from the phone, then you can add the extension remotely from the phone, but most Admins turn this feature off. Let me know if this helps, or if you need more details.

Thanks for your reply.

I should clarify my question. Is it possible to switch extensions on a 4610 without actually touching the 4610?

What I ended up doing is to have someone at that location logoff the phone and log back in with the new extension and password.

Try using the command 'change extension-station xxxx'. I would also perform a busy and release after executing that command. For some reason, the old extension will still show at the top left of the screen. The recycle will correct.
