Swapout G3si Processor

Is it possible to replace the TN2400 while the cabinet is still powered up?

I have only ever replaced control cards while the system is powered down but was just wondering why control cards are not "hot swappable

While the book says "you cant replace any of them" "HOT" some you can. I would not do the processors though. I have pulled the tape drives out of my G3R hot and put them back in to kick them and make them work, but it is best to shut it down. You might could do it hot, but you may never clear the alarms out of it.

on an si you system will go down if you unplug the processor or tone-clock. if you install the license in a spare cabinet on the new processor you only have to unplug power, remove flash, remove processor, insert new processor, insert flash, power on. This is a matter of max 15 minutes outage

No, you can not pull the processor while the system is live. Doing so kills the system immediately. If you need to replace the processor (for what ever reason) you will need to take a down time. I would plan for 1 hour, allowing you time to resolve any issues and test the system before it is available again. An important thing to note is that the license for the G3si is directly tied to the PID. When you change the processor, you will need to update your license. This means that Avaya will need to dial into your system and provide you with a new license file.
