Hi all,

I have a SuSE 8.2 box which is configured to start squid and apache on startup. In yast/sysconfig it's set to 'yes' to start the services but when I start the box these two don't start and I can't figure out why.

Can anyone help?

Thanks
millap

Did you check Inetd? I think you have to configue it too. It's also in yast.

Hi Fernando,

Thanks for the reply, yes I did check in yast and no inetd isn't running, I've figured it's a ln problem and added the symbolic Sxxsquid and Kxxsquid links in the rc3.d directory. All working well now.

Thanks

yes, the symlink is only added when u go to 'yast', and select the Run Level Editor under Systems config.. u can look for it in the YaST menu...

u then check the Squid and Apache daemon in the runlevel you have set your system under.. either runlevel 3 or 5...

once u check those options, save.. and when u reboot next, it will automatically start the daemons.....

alternatively, u can start the daemons on command line in one of 2 ways:

/etc/init.d/apache start
/etc/init.d/squid start

or

rcapache start
rcsquid start

good luck..
