Suppressing repeating data in Detail line

I have a report that only uses the detail line for the data, no groups, sorted by one field in the detail line. I'm using fields pulled in from SQL tables as well as an Excel spreadsheet that is updated daily.
Some of the data is being repeated in the detail line, and the 'Select Distinct Records' option in the Database menu is greyed out. I've tried grouping by the fields that would be the most logical for this application, but the items in the detail line repeat just the same.

Is there any other way to suppress the repeating detail lines? Thanks.

You can either use "suppress if duplicated" or use either field or section suppression with a conditional formula like this:

{table.field} = previous({table.field})

You can also, group the fields and move the field you are reporting into the Group Header line and suppress the Detail line. This will suppress the duplicate items.
