I have a report (mailing letters and forms) that consists of multiple sections as follows:

GH1a
GH1b
GH1c
GH2
D
GF2
GF1

I need to withhold letters from people according to data in GF2 (uses summaries and formulas) - in other words suppress all sections according to data in GF2.

My brain hurts now ... can anyone else help please?

You can suppress a section based on a group summary total, even though it will appear in the group footer.

This won't work if you accumulate the value as you print. Not unless you put everything in a lower section of the group footer. Or use a subreport, inefficient but it would work.

Thanks Madawc

I was hoping like crazy not to have to use a subreport cos I have them - but if that's the only way then I'll do that )

Some of the reports are evaluated at print time so I guess that subreports are the only way |

Ta again!

I think you should show us the content of the summary (if a formula) you want to use to suppress and explain a little more. You might not need to use a subreport.
