Summary info from Word doc without opening it

Somewhere I read about a way to pull (and edit?) the summary info from a Word (office?) doc without actually opening it.

I can't find it- anyone have a link or info?
I want to search a number of directories with many files, and build a database with info from the summaries.

Yep, and it is pretty easy from within another Office application. I'll see if I can find my 6 or 7 year old code that does this...

Ok, getting closer.
dsofile.dll from Microsoft, and a Word MVP article.

If you have a sample other than the code in listprops.dot I'd still like to see it.
