sum in continuos form

i have a continuos subform and i have a textbox on the main form that calculates the sum of all values from the sale textbox.. my code is:
=Sum([sale])
buy immediatly i view it the value shows #error.. how can i solve this..thanks

Could be several things, but one to check - what is teh name of the text box with the =Sum([Sale]) as the source?, ensure it is NOT Sale
