substitute of nortel 450 to cisco ?

I have experience of Nortel & Cisco, and i currently support Alcatel(Xylan) Switches.
To be honest the answer lies in the question, what are you wanting to do with the switch, best bet is to sort out what you want to do and then make a decision on manufacturer.
Price per port would make me steer clear of Cisco and buy Alcatel. They are good boxes with any any switching capabilities (Layer 2 and Layer 3).
