Subreports do not display data when re-imported 1

I have several reports I have been working on for the past few months and have experienced this issue with any that have a linked subreport.

When I make a change to an actual subreport file (separate .RPT), I return to my main report and select Re-import Subreport. When I do this, my subreport is either displayed as a blank space or or text displayed through text boxe4s will be shown, but no data.

I have checked my links, and I have even tried the Change Subreport Links option, but still no data. I have also tried re-running the report.

To get around this, I have to delete the subreport from the main report, then insert it back in. I then have to re-link, re-position, re-size and format the subreport each time I do this.

Am I doing something wrong when re-importing a subreport?

I am currently using Crystal Report 8.5 with the most recent updates. I am also accessing an Oracle 9i database via Crystal query files.

I suggest checking your links again, through the Record Selection on the sub-report.

I ran the report fresh, before re-importing the subreport. I chose Edit Subreport, and ran it solo. It ran OK and when I checked the Report --> Edit Selection Formula --> Record, nothing shows. This seems right to me since I am using .QRY file and not the Record Selection feature built into the report.

I choose to re-import the subreport and went through the same steps. The report does not display data this time and the record selection formula has a formula which is not correct. In this case, I have 5 parameters and they are all being linked to the one field in the query that I do NOT link anything to.

The subreport links on the main report look the same as they did originally.

One thing I just noticed was that I did not have all of the fields that I link to available in the Database Fields list since they were not in the SELECT portion of my SQL. I went back and changed the SQL and tried again, but I am still getting the same results.

There should be something in the Report --> Edit Selection Formula --> Record on the sub report as that is how it links to the main report.

I've had this problem myself (though not using a qry) and it was because I was re-importing a rpt that didn't have the links in it.

I have been doing my record selection in the query file itself, not in the report. I went back into the subreport and added that portion of the WHERE clause that used the parameters into the Record Selection Formula and it appears to be wokring now.

One other thing I noted...when I initially made this change, I still had to remove the original subreport from my main report - it was not updating with the one I had just changed. After that, I added the changed report, then tried re-importing it again. Both times I got data.

Thanks.
