I have got the total from the sub form showing on the main form (Finally - Thanks everybody). Call it [MainForm_ST]. I have created a control that makes a calculation using [MainForm_ST]. Let's call it [plug]. I need to get plug to change (recalculate) any time a change is made in the controls on sub form. And the calculation does just fine when I go to the next record. But I need to have [plug] and [mainForm_st] change when I leave the control.

How, please

YOu could put the same code in on_change of the field value on the SF.

Thanks so much for yourresponse!

But, I am sorry, but I don't understand. I know what you mean by when you say "on_change of the field value of the SF", but what do I put there?

The main form, where I need the instant recalculation, has "=([Forms]![FORM_Revenue Issues]![subform_Form_Revenue Issues Detail]![Sum_CV_Variance])-[SumOfCUR MO CV DIF]"

The sub Form has "=Sum([CV Variance])"

What do I put where?

Tell me what fields are added together and the various sources of them = read tables.

thanks so much for your help. If you have the time, I think the most efficient thing would be for me to send you an abbrevriated version of the database. Then you can see what I am trying to do.

Sorry to report that when I pasted in your version as follows

=([Forms]![FORM_Revenue Issues]![subform_Form_Revenue Issues Detail].[Forms]![Sum_CV_Variance])-[Me]![SumOfCUR MO CV DIF]

I got the darned #Name? This was both befoe I changed [Form] to [Forms]and after.

My version works, but not until I have the second line of detail entered. Would you be so kind to look at an abbreviated version of my db?
