subform creating new record

Hi,

I've got a slight problem with my form showing client bookings.
The first field is a combo box with the client type - the result of which decides which of 2 subforms is opened.
After the subform is completed the user then moves back to the main form.
The problem I'm finding is that the detail on the subform appears as a different record on my table to the details that appear in the main form.
In effect I have 2 records for each booking instead of one.
Can anyone help at all please?
