stupied question -what is a definite difference between view and query 2

why would you use a view vs a query???
I need something concrete to know when to use which !!!

Look up the following in BOL

views-SQL Server, overview

This should give you some information to get started.

Basically views can help with security. You can use a view to only show certain data while keeping sensitive data away from the user running the view. This allows you to not give any permission to the user to view the underlying table but give them permission to run the view.

Anyway, hope this helps.

Basically a view is a select statement that is storred within the database.
