I've just installed a 3 user demo of Netware 5, how do I get back to a Console1 screen from the command line interface? Also could anyone recommend a link or article to help me migrate a Netware 5 domain to a W2K server, around 20 workstations, 30 users and 1 server. Many thanks in advance.

Type startx at the console prompt and that should get you back to Console1.

if you are trying to go thru the screens did you try holding the alt key and hit esc as many times as it takes you to get back to console one. sometimes you have to let go if the screen is blank then press again to keep going

Also Control + esc will give a menu. Select item # 1, press enter and you're at the console again.

Why do you want to go the W2K from the Novell system? The Novell is more stable and secure. It is more reliable, (I reboot at least one of our W2K weekly, while I have some netware boxes that have been running fine for months)and performs better with one processor than the W2K boxes do with 2. The only thing it doesn't have is a pretty GUI.

My advice, for what it is worth, is to stay with the NetWare. If you have to have a W2K server for some reason, buy a new server, and install windows there. The 2 talk to each other fairly well, and that will probably be a cheaper solution than the headaches of migrating.

If you absolutely have to migrate, MS has some fairly complete documents. Just search at support.microsoft.com.
