Hi All,
This will be my first exchange server, so I still have some fundamental questions about the initial setup. Pardon my ignorance. I'm really trying to learn the basics here.:
I currently have the basic installation for Exchange Server 2007 finished on my new server.
1. I'm planning to set up a one-server exchange environment, so I won't be using an edge server, just a hub server, with the three basic roles. Will I be placing this exchange server in the DMZ or internal? I would imagine DMZ, but I'm not sure. I'm also concerned because the internal network's domain name is not a web name. It's in the form of DOMAIN1, instead of company1.com. So the exchange server is EXCH1.DOMAIN1. Will this be a problem when trying to access it from the internet?
2. I'm confused about SSL certificates. I want to eventually employ Outlook Anywhere, OWA, and ActiveSync for mobile devices. I'm told that I need to contact a third party for a Microsoft Exchange 2007 certificate. This will be imported into the Exchange Server? Is this third party SSL certificate necessary?
3. I read that I have the basic receive connectors created during installation. I need to create a send connector too. The articles that I read only talk about creating connectors in conjuntion with edge servers, and I won't be using this. What type of send connector would I have to create for a single exchange server environment?
I'm going to have more questions for sure, but this is a good starting point.
Thanks in advance.
