I'm working on a site with many pages. The header, footer, and left hand navigation will be the same on every page, and the left nav and footer will change monthly. The pages are designed with css, no tables. I'd like to figure out how to include virtual header footer and left nav in each page and have the middle body open to edit and have different on each page.
Some one previously gave a link to an ssi site, but it doesn't help me. I've got stuck in how to make the include; what to include in it, I guess.
Please, any help will be very much appreciated. Thanks
Brenda

Nothing stopping you having a table 100% and using ind cells to display the include files

OK, Thanks Cheech, but how do I make the include files? Do I copy the source beginning with the div tag through the img and text, to the /div, then paste that into a new dreamweaver page. Is that acceptable as an include file?

OK, I tried to make a new page, with a table and attach the css sheet. Then I put the include virtuals in the table cells, leaving one open for content. But the page won't display. It says there is a problem with it. Any advice?

when I make include files, I seperate each part of the code, so that it's basically.
header
start side menu
//content will go here//
end side menu
footer

The SSI includes I put the header after all the body tags etc, so that the body tag has the link to the css and all that.
I also put the SSI includes within the two body and html tags, unlike PHP where I will put the html start and end in the includes.
- no real reason apart from it makes it easier for other people who edit the site, they simply change the content, and the title.

Sometimes, when my code just won't behave, I take it outside and make it listen to britney spears music, and when it comes back it's really well behaved. I wonder if it's suffering from post tramatic stress syndrome now..
