One Win2K system with Office2K premium did not have SR-1 updates. Applied updates - ran overnight - still running in the morning, 0% CPU activity. Cancelled update. All Office programs work except Publisher. Cannot do a Repair install of Disc2 , cannot ReInstall, cannot uninstall because it knows another install in progress. How can I get this unstuck? Help most appreciated!!

Figured it out! Went into Control Panel, Administrative Tools folder, Services, looked around, found at least one service that referred to installations - could not turn it off (I tried), but set it to be disabled on next boot. Rebooted, the evidence of the aborted install was gone, and I was able to do a new install over the top of the bad one. Not sure why applying the SR1 patch should have taken overnight, but the user is back on the air with Publisher, which was the objective. The original problem was that Word was blowing out during cut-and-pastes between Word and Publisher, and I had noted that the Win2K was only SP1, and no SR had been applied to Office. The SP2 on Win2K went flawlessly, but the SR on Office Premium worked on the Disc One applications, but apparently got stuck on Publisher. Hope this saves somebody else some time!

I have installed Office 2000 using the Office SR-1 CD. Two things are going wrong. Different users log onto their machines the applications are asking the users to register the product. If they say yes it will not allow them. As the administrator I am not expereincing this problem. Secondly, when I went to do an add-in from the toolbar in Excel, Office 2000 requested the Office 2000 SR-1 CD. I inserted this and it told me that it could not find the source code. It was looking for data1.msi file. The installation was from a clean install of Win 00 Prof. Should I have done a base installation of Office 2000 with the standard CD and then installed SR-1. Does anybody have any ideas of the problem.

Thank you!
