We are based in the UK and are thus stuck on 2.1 (we cannot afford to replace the whole thing!) but we want to make sure we are running the newest possible version of voicemail because we use it heavily. Will a version 3 or 4 voicemail work with an IPO 406 running the newest 2.1 software?

Cheers
Millsey

It might but it won't be supported by Avaya and any new V/M features won't work as they need the relavent core s/w.

I am afraid you are stuck with 2.1 V/M.

I would look at migrating your phones to 54xx or 56xx phones and get rid of the DT's.

Is it a IP406 or IP406v2???

I believe there are still upgrade incentives available from Avaya to upgrade from older phones.

What have you got in hardware and phones??

We have two offices running an SCN with two seperate voicemail servers (I know I know we are going to buy an 8 port and run only one VM soon if the licences are still available. Incidentally this is what was recommended as the right way to do it about 3 years ago but of course seperate VM's is no longer supported).

We have two IP403's, one with one 30 and one 16 port OLD black alchemy analogue distribution units, and a SO8. The other has two 30 port white IP Office distribution units and an OLD black 16 port digital terminal distro (which has nothing in use on it anyway). The alchemy distro units are working fine and are flashed with 2.1.77 firmware. I don't know if the IP403's are version 2 or not but definitely are the old "DT" type.

The IP403 units and Alchemy phone (not sure about Alchemy S08 units, I was talking to Tech Support today about this with no definate answer) units are only supported up to 3.2.

Do you have any digital phones on the system???

DT phones are only supported upto 2.1 (or 3.0DT which is essentially the same the same thing).

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Although if you want a quote, we could sort you out!!!! Ha Ha.

We have 2030 and 2050 DT's running but only off the IP403 ports, I think we would need replacement of the 403(DT) units and new digital handsets eg for Reception.

Well I think we will have to wait until the replacement is due..

Thanks
