Hi,
I have been stuggling with our tape backups for a while. We are using a Dell PowerVault T128 with an HP Ultrium LTO-1 drive. Lately, all my regular backups keep failing with status 84 (Media Write Error). The Netbackup logs report a CRC error and the system event log says "The device, \Device\Tape0, has a bad block (EventID 7). As a result, the tape drive goes down and prevents any further backups from running.
Interestingly, my system state backups are running fine but the problem occurs every time halfway into the 'ALL LOCAL DRIVES' backup (both full and incremental).
I tried replacing the drive, it did not help. I replaced the tapes, that didn't help either. I think the library/tape drive is actually okay. My suspicion is that there is something wrong in the software settings. Unfortunately my experience with tape backups is limited so ANY help or idea would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much!
Andre
