I now have an analog strobe light (Ext Axxx)attached to a 6408 series phone. The analog extension and the phones's digital extension (Bxxx) are in the same pick group. So, during a meeting, we can call the analog ext, it flashes, and the office assistant hits the "Call Pick Up" button to answer the call on Bxxx. Although I do have one abridged appearance of Axxx on the digital set, you can't use that to answer the call because it leaves you unable transfer (need a second Axxx abridged line appearance which the switch won't allow). My question is this (finally)- Is anyone aware of a small digital strobe light that I could use in place of the analog one? That would allow be to program at least two line appearances for the strobe and allow all user functions.

You don't need a second bridged appearance to transfer. To transfer the abridged appearance do the following: Hit transfer, manually select any other call appearance on the digital phone, dial, hit transfer again.

Thanks. I see how that would work. The reason I'm trying for a digital strobe is to avoid having to post special instuctions, such as your procedure. Differant people sit at that phone, so it has to be a normal routine.

You can also put the digital set and the strobe ext in a terminating extension group, they both ring at the same time.

That would work. I've never set one up. Is it something you can guide me on in a short space? Appreciate everyone's help.

The terminating ext gets it own ext numberand can also have coverage if required.
You just list the extensions you want it to ring to.
So if the digital set is your main ext that you want to ring and you cant change it, you could set the terminating ext up using that ext #. Then give the digital set a new one. Place both the extension number for the digital set and the strobe in the terminating ext group.
Once you look at the form you should not have any problem.
