I have a ahtlon 750 and I removed the front and back cover. I put the processor back in. The bios is ok, I even get to the windows loading screen. (i assume meaning that the processor has data going through it and is working. But the computer soon fails. I have no heatsink on the Athlon, but I have fans directed at it. The temperature in bios is 79 so its ok. Does anyone know what is wrong?

Including.

Bios could be wrong. The proessor gets very hot. Differnt error messages, vxdmon, bios messes up, windows loads for a little bit.

PUT A HEATSINK AND FAN ON IT - 79C is way too hot, that is why it stops working.
If you run these cpu's without heatsink/fan you invalidate guarantee.

but you should definately have a heatsink and fan. the heatsink pulls the heat off the cpu. if its reading 79c get ready to buy a new cpu.
