Hi,
After each strat or restart on my desktop appear window in Notepad format with next text inside:
[.ShellClassInfo]
LocalizedResourceName=@%SystemRoot%\system32\shell32.dll,-21787

To remove I have to click X on upper right corner or with command "close" from task bar.
When try to "save as" on other location this file is automaticly converted into Configuration Settings type of file.
Removed file "DESKTOP" configuration Settings type from START menu but useless.
Recrently updated from Sp1 to Sp2.
Please help and advice how to fiz this inconvinient.

Here's three things to try - See if one helps you out..

(1) - Going from the angle that it's starting on boot/login, try browsing to your start menu programs:

C:\Documents and Settings\ (ID) \Start Menu\Programs\Startup
(ID) = your login ID that you're logged in with.

and see if it shows anything in there about notepad, or a text file, or, well, anything that doesn't look right. If you see something in there like that you might try moving it out of that startup folder temporarily and then reboot to see if it got rid of it.

You can also look in the following directory (provided you have rights to do so of course):

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

(2) - If this doesn't work, then try a startup list program to see what's happening at startup. Here's a link to one:

(3) - You can also look at the actual run keys in the registry:

Look here for the run keys:

HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Run
HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/RunOnce
HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/RunOnceEx
HKCU/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Run
HKCU/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/RunOnce

DISCLAIMER - Improperly editing the registry can render your operating system disabled. Please save yourself some headache and get some help if you aren't sure of what you're doing in editing the registry. :)

Good luck!

Boy is my face red..
That's what I get for going to bed late and getting up early!!

Well, I guess mine's a LOT more of a general approach for things launching on boot/startup/login.
