Strange Print Problem

One of our users is unable to print to her local printer (ie not on the network) unless she enables legacy plug and play detection under Device Manager > Ports > LPT1 > Properties > Port settings > Enable legacy plug and play detection checkbox.

This needs to be done each time she logs on otherwise the printer will not print, ie it loses the setting somehow.

We have tried re-installing the printer, updating the drivers, testing the printer on another machine (it works), and stopping and starting the print spooler.

Has anyone else experienced this particular problem? Any suggestions? I'm at a loss..

Thanks,

Have you enabled PnP for legacy devices in the BIOS setup?

Good question. I didn't look for it last time in the BIOS but I will check again.
