Hi All,

I just signed up for a new domain name (I had the hosting provider "CI Host.com" register the domain name and am having them host it as well. Here is my problem..

The site is on-line. If you go to you will see an under construction sign" The problem is that I can't ftp into the site. I use "WSFTP" and it won't connect. When I try to connect it says connected to "66.221.151.103" which of course is the ip address. But after about 60 seconds it says..

"Receive error!: Blocking call cancelled"

I have called CI HOST and verified all user names and passwords. They say that when they try to ftp into the site that it works fine for them.
I even tried the following test.

I disconnected my router.
I then went to a command prompt in windows and typed...

"ftp sacloanpro.com"

It then says that it is connected but never prompts me for a user name or password.
After about 60 seconds it says

"connection closed by remote host"

So it seems like my computer is ok as I have also tried this with 2 other computers running different versions of Windows.

That's where I am now.
The way I see it it is either the hosting CO (most likely?) or maybe my cable modem provider (don't think so) Anybody have any suggestions about what I can try now?

Thanks for the help

Try using a different FTP client, FTPexplorer is functional. Also one like CuteFTP is good. Please let us know what you think of posts, feedback is always appreciated as this will help to further our knowledge as well. [bigears]

Can you ping the IP from your computer ?
Can you connect to other FTP sites without problems ?

Do you have a firewall with your router ?
Maybe you have to forward the port 21 for FTP ?

If you try a direct connection (I mean bypass the router) to your ISP, and try the ftp connection, does it work ?

I'm just throwing some ideas ;)

Wow! Thanks for all the quick replies..

CyberWarrior.
It can't be a problem with the program because it did not work from a command prompt either.
Thanks anyway

Yes I can ping the ip address from my computer.
And yes I can connect using FTP to other sites.
I also disconnected my firewall and still had the same problems.
Thanks also.

Smah,

Yes! I can see that it connects from my browser as well. Well what do you know, it just connected from WSFTP as well. It still seems very slow connecting but at least it does connect.

Well I guess I won't worry about it for now. For now at least it is working. Can't figure out what the problem has been but will let you know if it comes back.

Thanks All
