Strange Error Message 2

Hello all, I hope that somebody can help. I have been trying to install a program and I keep getting the below error message.

16 bit window sub system window system 32/ auto exe. nt

I am running XP pro with 1GB ram Sapphire Radeon 9000 Pro WD 160 GB hd.
Asus P4B-533e Mobo.

Three threads or more a day with the same issue is not normal.

Forum member linney likely can find a longer discussion as to the root source of this issue.

The fixes above will "fix" the issue. I recommend you set the file properties to Read Only.

Thank you BCastner, that 1st link of your's told me exactly what to do to resolve the issue. Amazing isnt it what some of MS fixes will do to a computer.. thanks also to you linney for helping out.

I could not find an earlier link to this same issue (although I knew they existed), and made a blatent request to our Forum unofficial Historian, linney.

A star for linney from me, for several reasonss. In particular, the discussion of this issue suggests strongly a malware scan of your system. Follow the linney link after resolving the immediate issue of autoxec.nt corruption. And while my advice above can quickly fix the issue, I would feel better if you clicked on linney's link above.
