Strange Behavior With Large Report

In my company we have developed a report generating program in VB6 which uses Crystal Reports to display/print the reports. Some of the reports that are generated can produce 1000+ pages.

My problem is that 1 report when generated, if the total number of pages gets to around 200 will lock the program and you have to ctrl+alt+del to get out. You are unable to print or page through the report.

The only difference with this report is that the last 2 fields are text fields for comments and forecast and both can contain large quantities of text and span multiple pages.

Does anyone have any idea what direction I might go to try and remedy the locking of the program?

Thanks!

When it hangs up I would go to the Temp directory and see how large the temporary file is that CR has created. If your report is based on a Db and the table links in CR are wrong, especially if there are images on the reports, the temporary file can get as large as several hundred Mbs or even several Gb large, where as when the table links are correct, then temp file would only be several Mbs large.
